The Dreaded Artist's Block
Share
Artist's block has become more of an issue for me as my life becomes busier. When I'm away from my desk, the ideas are flowing! As soon as I try to sit down and put a pencil or marker to paper I'm drawing blanks. Low motivation has become a familiar companion because of this, which has resulted in less time for art.
I know I'm certainly not the only one in the world who deals with this, but sometimes it can feel like you're dealing with it all on your own and you get stuck in your own head.
Though we're still a bit off from New Year's, I'm working on starting my own art resolution now. I want to dedicate at least a few minutes a day to drawing, regardless of if I feel motivated or not. Welcoming art back into my everyday life a few years ago was such a breath of fresh air, I want to make sure I keep that positive in my life!
In line with this new resolve, I'm working on finding ways to get over the "starting hump" and let the creativity flow. There are a lot of ideas and methods that people have shared online, but they don't always work for everyone's style of work. My goal for the next week is to find ways I can jump start my motivation to maintain this daily habit of creating.
